Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator (Full-time)

Location: Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, Calgary
Reporting to: Senior Manager, PR and Marketing

About this position

The Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator is primarily responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring NMC’s social media strategy in order to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts, and increase sales and admissions.

The ideal candidate must be a creative and experienced social media and digital content expert, capable of handling multiple tasks and multiple accounts all at once in a fun, fast-paced, hybrid work environment.

This is a full-time, salaried position between $46 to $50K annual compensation with benefits.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies and campaigns for NMC and the King Eddy across platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube).
  • Organize social media content through a strategic content calendar, utilizing SproutSocial for streamlined scheduling and management.
  • Generate well-written, original content for social media and newsletters to draw awareness for all NMC events, programs, exhibitions, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Conceptualize and craft engaging on-camera content – and occasionally act as on-camera personality – by brainstorming video ideas, writing compelling scripts, and collaborating with the video production team.
  • Execute paid ad campaigns using Meta, TikTok, and Google Ads.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics, providing insights for improvement (i.e. generating reports from SproutSocial and Google Analytics).
  • Foster meaningful community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and interacting with followers.
  • Attend events during the week – and occasionally on weekends – taking photos and/or video for live posting and use in future marketing assets.
  • Stay current with evolving social media trends, platform updates, algorithm shifts, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure that the integrity of all National Music Centre, Studio Bell, and King Eddy brands are maintained on all social media platforms.
  • Offer comprehensive support to the Marketing team by coordinating PR projects, assisting in the creation of presentations, overseeing summer street teams, participating in partner meetings, and handling additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong communicator (both verbal and written) to effectively craft communications across various formats including paid/organic social media channels, newsletters, display ads, search copy, etc.
  • Experience managing and optimizing ad campaigns across Meta (Facebook & Instagram), TikTok, and Google Ads platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in an Apple Mac environment).
  • Engaging on-camera presence for social media reels.
  • High attention to detail, and the initiative to work independently in a fun, fast-paced, hybrid environment.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit.
  • A passion for music, musical knowledge or a musical skill is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is also an asset.

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience working in digital marketing and/or advertising in social media roles.
  • Proficiency in graphic design is a strong asset, especially with Adobe Creative Suite tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Photography/videography and motion graphics/animation experience an asset.
  • Prior experience working in an arts and/or non-profit environment an asset.
