54-40 SNARE DRUM SKIN
WEATHER KING EMPEROR BATTER
MADE BY REMO | USA
ON LOAN FROM JULIE C. VINCENT AND FAMILY | CALGARY, ALBERTA
“This drum skin came from Matt Johnson’s snare drum at the end of a performance in Calgary in 1998 on 54-40’s Since When tour. The wear pattern indicates it was getting to its last legs, so Matt removed it, the band members signed it, and they passed it to my daughters, who’d watched the entire show from side stage. I remember them all sitting there – my three daughters, my sisters’ kids – three more girls and a boy, Neil and Geanine’s two daughters – the whole family was hidden side stage, rocking out. This skin is such a cool memento of that day. Significantly, it includes Phil Comparelli’s signature. Phil was a founding member of 54-40. He left the band in 2005.”

“Neil Osborne is my eldest step-sister, Geanine’s, spouse. When they met, my dad wasn’t a fan of my sister dating a 'rock star' - a prophetic moniker given that would have been about 1983 and the band was not yet widely known. My dad became their biggest fan.”
