(Calgary, AB — February 7, 2023) It’s time for families to spend the day connecting through music! The National Music Centre (NMC) will be opening Studio Bell with free admission on February 20 for a special Family Day event with The Polyjesters, a band of prairie pirates who play swing music of all flavours. Gather your friends and family for a day of fun, musical exploration, and interactive activities, all for free!
The Polyjesters were created by brothers Jason and Sheldon Valleau on a park bench in Holland and developed on the streets of France, moving from street performances to playing private parties in Monaco including for the Prince himself.
In addition to the swinging tunes, visitors can also expect in-gallery activations for all ages. Whether exploring vibration and volume through a hands-on Instrument Petting Zoo, catching a Kimball Theatre Organ demo or discovering the new Showcase: Guitars exhibition, families have tons to enjoy, together.
"We absolutely love seeing families show up in droves every year for our Family Day event,” said Andrew Mosker, NMC President and CEO. “Music is such a great way to connect people from diverse backgrounds and generations of loved ones as well as friends, so we welcome all to experience National Music Centre and have a blast together on February 20!”
