NMC Presents: CIBC Summer Series at the King Eddy — Riwo with Rome IX

Join Nigerian-born neo-soul artist Riwo and Calgary indie-soul artist Rome IX at the legendary King Eddy for National Music Centre's CIBC Summer Series on July 19.

About Riwo:

Riwo Theo Egor is a Nigerian born singer and songwriter. She is the lead vocalist of the band Melafrique. She has been performing in Edmonton since she moved here in 2015, and has done so alongside various artists, both local and international. Riwo has performed at many major venues in Edmonton and beyond, with her band Melafrique, and as a solo artist. She is very passionate about sharing messages and personal stories through music, and enjoys doing so through the Neo-soul, R&B and Afro-Jazz styles of music. She believes in the power of music to heal wounds, and cause people to connect with each other on so many levels. One of her biggest goals in life is for her music to bring unity in the diversity of our crazy world.

Riwo’s sound goes beyond the boundaries of one specific genre, so the way to best describe her music would be: a fusion of genres. However, also alternative/indie comes close in describing Riwo’s style of music.
