BUCKSHOT'S GUITAR
MADE BY SUPREMA | CANADA
ON LOAN FROM RON BARGE | CALGARY, ALBERTA
“I was born 9 months after the Buck Shot Show started in 1967, so I never knew my dad ('Buck Shot') as anyone else. Being the child of a local celebrity was not a big deal to us kids. That was just his job; he was our dad, who had a TV show. Of course it was always fun to get on the show and be a part of entertaining others, but the true impact of how much he meant to kids, and even their parents, didn’t hit until we became older. To see kids’ eyes light up when they saw him, and see adults turn back into kids when they met him; it was a beautiful sight. To this day we still see that reaction from adults and it is beyond heartwarming. For 30 years the Buck Shot Show taught and entertained children through song, entertained adults, and even helped one woman I know learn to speak English. I know that so many families in Calgary remember its longstanding theme song and could hum it by heart today. That song, my dad’s guitar, and the wonderful troupe of characters, including his puppet pal, Benny the Bear, will last in the memories of so many. I am beyond proud and blessed to call Ron 'Buck Shot' Barge my father.”
